Description
This work features a dense layering of images from Vietnam, Iraq, and the September 11 attacks in the US. Figures and scenery wander and seethe across the picture plane, melding the past with the present. The faces of the victims and soldiers become universal in the expressions and actions. Repetition and timelessness play with the concrete and acutely detailed scenes in a meditation relevant to both human nature and US foreign relations. Lê reminds us of our flawed politics in Vietnam and the negligence of repeating similar atrocities.
