Description
Đỗ Viết Khôi is a devout Catholic who has had the habit of praying every night before going to bed since childhood. He often prays for his own existence, every breath, and the next heartbeat of his body, for tomorrow and for the future. However, a part of that prayer is directed towards himself rather than any higher being. With the perspective that inner peace always comes from within oneself, the young woman in the painting can be seen as a reflection of the artist, the image of him within it continues to pray for the audience to find the same peace he experiences.
