Description
My childhood was associated with my mother's garden. Even when I grew up, I still felt the garden had never left me. Fragments of the garden sometimes appear in my mind as fictional, illusory, surreal land. Starry Silence is a piece of this fictional land. In Starry Silence, I used clay/soil taken from my field trips to pottery villages in the Southern region, and wrung each minuscule clay ball by hand, simulating cricket nests in my mother's garden. Tiny clay balls, cluster by cluster, spread across the floor, slumbering the world away under pale spots of light.
