Description

Water Palace represents an ethereal vision of St. Joseph's Cathedral in Hanoi, with rain on the car windshield recreated by the artist on a car bonnet. The Cathedral was built on the foundation of the destroyed Báo Thiên tower of Báo Thiên Pagoda. Two layers of covering, space within space, time within time- creating surrealism within realism. This artwork contemplates and questions the clash of values in the course of history and society with a historical manmade structure in contrast to the impermanence of time and memory.
