Description

In 2016, I returned to Tonlé Sap and saw that many of the houses have been abandoned and were slowly sinking. Many families have left the lake to return to Vietnam in recent years. With the lake drying up, its water becoming increasingly polluted, and its fish stock dead and exhausted, they had no choice but to leave the waters that have nurtured so many generations and stored their memories, hopes, and nomadic culture. In an attempt to visualize this irreparable loss of the future, in Disappearing landscapes (2017–ongoing) I collected pieces of wood on which I printed landscape images of Tonlé Sap that I had taken myself.
