Used clothes, wooden cabinet door.
Description
It was someone’s home is created with tiny squares of cut, used fabric attached to found wooden cabinet and cupboard doors (which themselves contain memories and histories). Depicting residential houses that are no longer extant, these intimate works are imaginative reconstructions of demolished homes that did not always have a public record of use. While not easily discernible when gazing directly at the works, the houses become immediately visible when viewing the works through a digital device such as a smartphone. Questions arise on how one perceives images, and the way history is recorded and remembered.
