Bùi Công Khánh, born in Đà Nẵng, earned his Bachelor of Fine Arts in oil painting, University of Fine Arts in Ho Chi Minh City (1998). He is a visual artist whose diverse practice spreads interdisciplinarily from painting, sculpture, drawing to installation, photography, film, performance.
As early as the 1990s, Bùi Công Khánh had gained international recognition with performances that questioned the limits of the personal voice in society. Deeply fascinated by the social assumptions of cultural heritage, his practice takes research as the main strategy. Drawing on historical studies, together with masterful synthesis of traditional art and conceptual art methods/practices he creates works that are provocative and poetic at the same time.
