Description
As Vietnam opened its door in many aspects of life in the post-Đổi Mới era, domestic cultures began to cross-fertilize with cultures in other parts of the world. We eagerly learned about new things and were predisposed to both the good and the bad of Western cultures. Positive novelties were accompanied by negative ways of life. We readily took them up, effectively cultivating our own cultural movement of instant gratification and risk taking.
The title Go West is inspired by the gold rush in the United States in 1886 as people flocked to the West with dreams of a better life in the promised land.
